We were founded in 1982 to promote and encourage public interest in the history and antiquities of Callan and District, and their connection with the county of Kilkenny. We are affiliated to the Kilkenny Archeological Society.

We research the history, archaeology and genealogy of Callan and its inhabitants. We protect buildings and other monuments of historical and architectural interest in the Callan area and develop public interest in them. We also publish pamphlets and other publications about Callan and District. See our publications page for a list of materials we have on sale.

Meetings at 8pm on second Monday of every month at Droichead (formerly CBS), West St, Callan, have been suspended until further notice. We are grateful to our existing members for their continued support, and new members are always welcome – please get in touch via the email address below.
